Ecumenical Work

The Yorkshire North and East District is committed to working with Churches Together in England and our local denominational partners.

In December 1998, a covenant was signed at Ampleforth by church leaders in Yorkshire and the North East, committing to work together

  • to meet annually for prayer and reflection
  • to proclaim and preach the faith
  • to be a sign of hope and encouragement to all
  • to bear each others burdens and so fulfil the law of Christ

As part of this ecumenical working, two groups meet regularly in our District to support ecumenism in general and Local Ecumenical Partnerships in particular. They are ENVOY (Ecumencial Network in the Vale of York) and NYMCT (North Yorkshire Moors Churches Together)

Revd Steve Jakeman is our Ecumenical Officer and he will be glad to hear your stories of, or ideas for, ecumenical cooperation.
